Co-owners Craig Cogan and Simon Mansell are deeply involved in every project. They work closely with you to understand your preferences and ensure that you receive accurate, timely estimates that are detailed and transparent—no delays, no surprises. With Craig's extensive industry experience and Simon’s commitment to excellence, our team brings exceptional value to each project.
With 35 years of experience as a business owner and builder, Craig Cogan is the visionary behind Cogan Custom Homes. He is a respected member of Certified Builders and previously served as the president of the Whangarei region. As a S2 Licensed Building Practitioner (BP105556), Craig’s extensive local and international experience enriches every project we undertake.
Craig’s passions extend beyond building. He enjoys traveling, golf, fishing, kite surfing, hockey, rugby, and a range of other sports. He is also a dedicated property investor and serves on the Board of the Waipu Golf Club. Having grown up in the Bream Bay area, Craig is deeply connected to the local community.
Outside of work, Craig values time with his partner and their 10-year-old son, balancing his professional life with a rich family life. He remains hands-on with projects when needed, while his experienced team efficiently manages day-to-day operations.

As a Licensed Building Practitioner with 15 years of experience, Simon Mansell brings a wealth of expertise to our team. His passion for his work is shown by his attention to detail, and desire to provide a high quality finished product. Simon will be regularly onsite, liaising with subcontractors and providing updates and advice throughout your project.
Outside of work, Simon values quality time with his wife and two children, who are heavily involved in local sports teams such as netball, hockey, cricket, basketball, mountain biking and tennis. Simon enjoys fishing off the beach at Uretiti, and mountain biking with his 12 yr old son.
Having relocated from Whangaparoa to Waipu, Simon has embraced a new lifestyle that enhances both his family’s well-being and his professional focus. His commitment to creating a better life for his family reflects in his dedication to delivering exceptional results for our clients.
